Last night was the best New Year I’ve had in a long time. I got to chow down on some Mediterranean food and then headed to see Blue Man Group with a friend. It was my second time seeing the show and it was just as fun as I remembered. I love all the sounds, comedy and bright neon colors! The show ended around 11:40 pm and we headed outside for the countdown to 2015. It was so beautiful out. All of the Christmas lights and decorations were still out at Klyde Warren Park and it was fun to just stand there and take it all in. We were able to see the fireworks from the Wyly Theatre, too.
I woke up this morning feeling rested, relaxed and ready to start a new year with a new book. I opened up “Deep: Freediving, Renegade Science and What the Ocean Tells Us About Ourselves.” It was written by journalist James Nestor. I’ve only read the first 13 pages and I’m in love. It’s about freedivers that dive hundreds of feet down into the ocean without any equipment to study ocean life. It makes my adventurous heart smile big. Perfect inspiration for a new beginning.
I’ve never been big on New Year’s resolutions and this year is no different. I have things I’m constantly working towards no matter the day or year.
I want to stay curious- always. I want to work on loving myself more and worrying less. I want to make best friends with my DSLR because those mountains in Canada are full of beauty that I want to bring back home. I want to remain open to every opportunity, and thankful for the people and things that both come and go in my life. I always meet the most amazing people when I travel, and I always learn something from them. I’m really looking forward to that.
Aside from these things, I’m just along for the ride until I come up with something new to add to the list.
Happy New Year!
